Troubleshooting the App
The iPhone, iPad, and Android apps keep a copy of what you last loaded -- your accounts, agents, tasks, and recent sessions -- on the device, so the app has something to show the moment you open it and refreshes from Wallfacer behind that. That copy is a convenience, never the record: everything it holds also lives on the server. Here's how to fix the most common issues with it.
An Update Appears on One Platform First
Wallfacer can deliver over-the-air app updates to iOS and Android separately. A change may appear on one platform before the other, including when a new native build for the other platform is still waiting for approval. You do not need to reinstall the app to receive an over-the-air update. If a change still has not arrived, check TestFlight on iPhone or iPad, or Google Play on Android, for a newer app version.
The App Closes Shortly After Launch
Symptom: The app opens, shows its first screen, and closes again a second or so later. Reopening it does the same thing.
Cause: The device is nearly out of free storage, and the app cannot write its cached copy back to disk.
Fix: Update to the latest version from wherever you installed the app -- TestFlight on iPhone and iPad, Google Play on Android, both linked from Download -- then free some space on the device. Current versions check free space before writing and skip the write when the device is too full, rather than trying it. Nothing you have done in Wallfacer is at risk either way; the cached copy is rebuilt from the server the next time the app loads.
The App Closes Immediately on iOS 27
Symptom: On a device running iOS 27, the app closes the moment you tap it. It never reaches its first screen, and every launch does the same. The same version opens normally on iOS 26.
Cause: iPhone and iPad builds from before the 2026-09-23 release do not adopt the app life cycle iOS 27 requires, and iOS 27 closes them at launch rather than running them. Free storage has nothing to do with it.
Fix: Update to the latest version from TestFlight, linked from Download. Builds from the 2026-09-23 release onward launch normally on iOS 27, and nothing on the device needs clearing first.
The App Is Slower to Show Your Data
Symptom: Opening the app shows empty lists or spinners for a moment before your tasks and agents appear, where it used to show them immediately.
Cause: There is no usable cached copy on the device, so the app is loading everything from Wallfacer. That happens when the device is low on storage, after you reinstall, and after a version whose cached data the new app declines to reuse.
Fix: Nothing, if the data arrives. The app refills the cache once it has room to write it, and the next launch is fast again. If lists stay empty, check the device's network connection -- see Notifications for how the app behaves offline.
You Were Signed Out Without Signing Out
Symptom: The app asks you to sign in, and the accounts you had switched between are gone.
Cause: Your list of accounts is part of what the app stores on the device. Storage that was damaged while the device was out of space is discarded at the next launch, which takes that list with it.
Fix: Sign in again and your accounts come back from the server. Free space on the device first, so the app can store the list again. No task, session, or repository data is lost by this -- all of it lives in Wallfacer, and the app is showing you a copy.
